The term galvanized steel wire refers to any steel wire product that has been galvanized so that its corrosion resistance has been enhanced due to the galvanizing process. A typical process for applying a scratch- and corrosion-resistant coating to wire includes dipping the finished product into a bath of zinc compound, which is heated to form a coating that covers the entire surface of the wire in a scratch- and corrosion-resistant manner. Although this coating may not be considered a permanent anti-corrosion solution, it greatly increases the wire's resistance to corrosion and significantly extends its life.
