Report: Iranian missiles hit terrorist targets in Pakistan; Tensions escalating

According to The Iran Project, these bases were specifically targeted and successfully demolished by a combination of missile and drone attacks.

The focal point of this operation was the region known as Kouh-Sabz (green mountain) in the Balochistan province of Pakistan, recognized as one of the largest hubs for the Jeysh al-Dhulm militants, Tasnim reported.

Late Monday, Iran had also launched missile attacks on Iraq at what it called an Israeli spy headquarters near the U.S. Consulate compound in the city of Erbil, the seat of Iraq’s northern semi-autonomous Kurdish region, and at Daesh terrorists bases in northern Syria.

Following the airstrikes against the terrorists’ stronghold, Pakistan recalled its ambassador from Tehran and the Iranian envoy to Islamabad who is visiting Iran will not be allowed to come back, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday.

“Last night’s unprovoked and blatant breach of Pakistan’s sovereignty by Iran is a violation of international law and the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, In a meeting with the caretaker prime minister of Pakistan on the sidelines of the Davos summit, The foreign minister of Iran stressed the need to carry out a counterterrorism agreement between Tehran and Pakistan.

He also emphasized the necessity of pursuing efforts to carry out the previous agreements between the two neighbors on countering terrorism.

Moreover, talking to CNN's Fareed Zakaria at the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting 2024 in Switzerland’s Davos on Wednesday, the Iranian foreign minister said the retaliatory missile and drone strikes on Pakistani soil on Tuesday night have not harmed any Pakistani nationals, but have targeted the elements of an Iranian terrorist group.

On the other hand, former Pak Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wrote in a tweet that, “am shocked at the Iranian breach of Pakistani sovereignty. This missile attack is against the spirit of our friendship and principles of good neighborliness, especially as it undermines the historic relationship between our two countries. Sincere dialogue and meaningful cooperation between our two countries is the need of the hour. My condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in the attack."

Pakistan airstrikes Iran's southeastern city of Saravan

The Pakistani foreign ministry issued a statement saying that Islamabad has targeted the position of a Pakistani terrorist group inside Iran.

Reportedly, nine foreign nationals have been killed in several airstrikes conducted by Pakistan in Iran's southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.

The fatalities included two men, three women, and four children.

An informed source said Iran has demanded Pakistan's "immediate explanation" about the missile attack on Saravan early on Thursday morning.

Moreover, Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanani has condemned the attack carried out by Pakistan on the country's Sistan and Baluchestan province.

He noted that to officially notify the protest and request an explanation from the Pakistani government in this regard, the charge d'affaires of the embassy of this country in Tehran was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
