Will Tokyo-proposed plan for JCPOA be revived?

 
Bagheri held a meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa in Tokyo on Monday, during which they discussed bilateral ties, as well as international and regional issues, and also the 2015 Iran nuclear deal which is officially known as the JCPOA.
 
The Japan trip took place while Tokyo proposed to Amirabdollahian in August a plan to revive the nuclear talks between Iran and the 5+1 group (UK, France, Russia, China, America plus Germany).
 
Now, one of the agendas of this trip may be a consultation over Tokyo's proposed plan.
 
Back in August, Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian had traveled to Tokyo and held talks with the Japanese prime minister.
 
Tokyo supports the revival of negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and other parties for the full implementation of JCPOA obligations and is ready to facilitate it, the Japanese official told Amirabdollahian.
 
In October, In an interview with the "Kyodo" news agency of Japan, Amirabdollahian stated that Tokyo has proposed a plan to revive nuclear talks between Iran and the 5+1 group.
 
Iran's foreign minister told Kyodo that any plan from Japan that is in line with "Iran's interests" will be considered positive by the Islamic Republic.
 
Also on Monday, UN Secretary-General António Guterres urged the United States to lift or waive its sanctions against Iran’s oil sector to resume the US-abandoned Iran nuclear deal.
 
UN Political Affairs chief Rosemary DiCarlo told the Security Council on that “the Secretary-General still considers that the JCPOA represents the best available option” to resolve disputes over Tehran’s nuclear program.

Guterres has underscored that the US will also need to lift or waive its sanctions and extend waivers regarding the trade in oil with Iran, for the deal to resume, she remarked.
