‘Fish and Cat’ to go on screen at several intl. film festivals

Acclaimed Iranian film Fish and Cat directed by Shahram Mokri is set to represent Iranian cinema at several international film festivals.
Mokri’s drama is scheduled to compete at the first edition of Bled International Film Festival (BFF) in Slovenia.

The film is to be screened at the Feature-length Competition section of the event that will be held from June 17 to 21.

Fish and Cat will be also showcased at the Iranian Cinema Focus section of the 68th Edinburgh International Film Festival in Scotland held from June 18 through 29.

The film will be Iran’s only cinematic representative at the Non-competition section of Horizons in the 49th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in Czech Republic that will take place from July 4 to 12, 2014.

The 127-minute movie depicts the story of a group of university students who face different problems during their trip to the north of Iran.

Produced by Kanoon Iran Novin, Fish and Cat has been participated in many international events so far.

Shot in one continuous sequence, the psychodrama swept two top awards at the 28th Fribourg International Film Festival recently held in Switzerland.

The film received the FIPRESCI Jury (International Federation of the Cinematic Press) as well as the Youth Jury Award.

The movie won the Special Orizzonti Award for Innovative Content at the 70th edition of Venice International Film Festival.

It received the best film award at the 13th Lisbon and Estoril Film Festival in Portugal in November 2013.

The movie is currently in the screening lineup of Sidney International Film Festival that kicked off on June 4 and will run until June 14.
