Irans Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif (L) and former UN-Arab League Special Representative for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi[/caption]Irans Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and former UN-Arab League Special Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi have discussed the latest developments in the Muslim world, particularly the Syrian and Palestinian issues.
Zarif, who is in Algeria to attend the 17th foreign ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), met on Tuesday with Brahimi during a dinner banquet hosted by Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the necessity to find a peaceful solution to political conflicts among Muslim countries.
The top Iranian diplomat also met Bolivian President Evo Morales, Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal and a number of NAM foreign ministers participating in the event.
On May 13, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon announced that he had accepted the resignation of Brahimi, describing it as a tragedy for the Syrian people and a failure for the UN.
The 17th NAM foreign ministerial conference kicked off in the Algerian capital of Algiers on Monday under the theme of "Enhanced Solidarity for Peace and Prosperity."
Experts of the NAM states held meetings on Monday and Tuesday in order to draw up a report for the foreign ministerial conference on Wednesday and Thursday.
