Iran, ILO to broaden labor cooperation
TEHRAN (FNA)- Officials from Iran and the International Labor Organization (ILO) explored new avenues for expansion of ties in different domains, particularly in technical fields.

Speaking at a meeting with ILO Director-General Guy Ryder on the sidelines of the 320th session of the governing body of the UN international Labor Organization (March 13-27), Iranian Deputy Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare for International Affairs Mohammad Taqi Hosseini said that Ryder welcomed cooperation between The Islamic Republic of Iran and the UN body. The ILO director-general also promised to enhance technical support to Iran.

The 320th Session of the ILO Governing Body was held on March 13 to 27 in New York.

In mid-June, Iranian Labor Minister Assadollah Abbasi underlined the need for broader cooperation among the member-states of the International Labor Organization (ILO).

The Iranian labor minister made the remarks in separate meetings with his Afghan, Iraqi, Egyptian and Malaysian counterparts on the sidelines of the 102nd ILO Meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.

Abbasi's talks with his foreign counterparts focused on the issues of mutual interest and ways to deepen mutual cooperation.

The Iranian labor minister, heading a high-ranking delegation, has also held talks with Ryder in Geneva on labor-related issues.

As one of ILO founders, Iran plays a key role in the international body.
