Tehran, March 9, IRNA - Visiting foreign policy chief of the European Union (EU) Catherine Ashton i met with the former secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili on issues of mutual interests.
The EU foreign policy chief is now visiting Iran at the official invitation of Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Ashton also conferred with President Rouhani and Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani earlier in the day.

Ashton is to meet with Secretary of Iran?s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani and Head of Strategic Research Center of the Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati.

Ashton and her entourage also attended a launcheon thrown in their honor by Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif at the Foreign Ministry.

Ashton and her accompanying delegation are to visit the historical city of Isfahan on Monday.
