Pakistan, Iran must resolve issues through talks: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khansaid on Friday that Iran and Pakistan were tied in common religious, historical and brotherly relations and should resolve issues on negotiations table, not through other ways.
Instead of airing views through the media, it will be more appropriate if issues are discussed across the table, the minister said in a meeting with Iranian Ambassador Alireza Haghighian here.

Chaudhry Nisar said Pakistans relations with Iran were embedded in common historical, cultural, religious, economic and geographical links. The minister said Pakistan-Iran relations are important for the region and also for the whole Muslim Ummah. We must rise above the difficulties to totally nullify the designs of our enemies, he said.

We must rise above the current irritants and endeavour to protect the fundamentals of Pak-Iran relations, Chaudhry Nisar said.He said the two countries and their security agencies should work together to make the entire Pak-Iran border safe for the common citizens and a no-go area for militants and terrorists.

He said Pak-Iran relations will be taken to a level which reflects strong, close and brotherly relations that exist between the people of the two countries. The minister opined that no militant or terrorist should be allowed to negatively influence the very close relations between the two countries.

The Iranian ambassador reciprocated the sentiments of Chaudhry Nisar and said the Iranian government was looking to work closely with the government of Pakistan to further strengthen relations in all fields. He said the Iran government was looking forward to the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to Iran.
