Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has arrived in Azerbaijani capital today to participate in the 20th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Baku.

The summit will take place in Baku on October 16-17.

Iran's president will participate in the summit, and later fly to Kuwait, to take part in the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) summit.

The ACD, an informal forum of foreign ministers from Asian countries, was established in 2002 in Thailand to enhance mutual cooperation in various sectors.

Yesterday, Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi arrived in Baku, to attend the 20th Meeting of the Council of Ministers of ECO.

The ministerial meeting of ECO is scheduled to be followed by the 12th Summit of Heads of State/Government of ECO, in which Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will partake on Tuesday.

ECO is an intergovernmental regional organization established in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey with the aim of promoting economic, technical and cultural cooperation among member states.

The organization was expanded in 1992 to include seven new members, namely Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
