Iran's Majlis speaker Larijani invited to Rome

The president of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy has invited Iranian Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijanito Rome.

Laura Boldrini extended the invitation to Larijani and expressed willingness to pay a visit to Iran at a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Rome Jahanbakhsh Mozaffari at the Chamber of Deputies on Thursday.

Regional issues and expanding capacities for bilateral relations between Iran and Italy were among a range of issues discussed at the meeting.

During the meeting, the Iranian ambassador stressed boosting political relations between the two countries and expressed readiness for arranging the visits.

Boldrini praised Irans active role in the international arena and said, Cooperation and interaction among international players will be realized only through mutual respect for one another's values and cultures, and threat and intimidation have never led to stable cooperation.

On January 3, an Italian parliamentary delegation headed by Italian senator Pier Ferdinando Casini arrived in Tehran.

The delegation announced on Sunday that the landmark nuclear agreement between Iran and the Sextet of world powers in Geneva last year should recognize Irans right to nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

The delegation added that the Geneva deal should also assure the West that Iran's nuclear energy program is peaceful.

On November 24, 2013, Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council -- Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States -- plus Germany inked an interim deal in Geneva to set the stage for the full resolution of the dispute over Irans nuclear energy program.
