Brussels/Tehran, Dec 17, IRNA � Member of Iran?s nuclear negotiating team Abbas Araqchi said that nuclear talks with the western governments will continue.
He made the remarks in Brussels after his meeting the European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton.

During the meeting, he criticized the unconstructive stand of the west especially the statements of the US officials to weaken the nuclear deal struck on November 24.

He underlined the need for avoiding some excessive demands as well as provocative statements and actions especially by the US officials if the talks are set to go on.

Araqchi said that the EU official also underscored the necessity to avoid behaviors which could lead to misunderstandings and said the 5+1 negotiating team especially Americans will behave accordingly.

Araqchi said that Ashton agreed with him that commitment to the November 24 deal was a requirement for a final settlement of the decade-old dispute.

He pointed to the US improper remarks and its decision to enlist additional Iranian companies for sanctions and said that the US shift of gear made Iran to have another look to the developments and the continuation of talks.

Araqchi, who is the deputy foreign minister for international and legal affairs, said it was incorrect for a party to the negotiations to think it could pass unilateral judgments on the agreement, create turmoil in the world public opinion and interpret an agreement based on a two-way process only to its own benefit.

He believed that the US behavior is liable to criticism.

He said there certain people in the US Congress who are trying to sabotage the Geneva agreement.

He said that it was normal for the US administration to try to stop such attempts but not in the expense of challenging the agreement.

He said Iran was against such a behavior, adding that Tehran has already voiced its objection to the US in this regard.

Asked about his Monday visit to Germany, he said that Germany is Iran?s major trade partner in the EU.

He said the visit aimed to exchange views with the German officials on latest developments regarding the nuclear talks between Iran and 5+1.
