Although extremists could not destroy sympathizers of the country, including effective managers, compassionate scholars, and wise academics, they made them stay at home, and society's status quo is largely due to an unwanted isolation of the country's efficient elites, Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani affirmed.

Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani made the remarks visiting members of the Central Council of the Islamic Association of University Teachers on Monday.

Chairman of the Expediency Council stressed that "national unity" is not meant to integrate forces, but to prepare the ground for all loyal to the revolution and the constitution to participate actively and fairly.

In this case, what obtained through the legal and free choice of people, will be accepted and supported by all, then inefficiencies are reduced and the process of development will be smooth, Hashemi Rafsanjani added.

Member of the Assembly of Experts said that having the courage to admit mistakes and correct inefficiencies are the first step of reforming the affairs and turning back to the right direction.

In addition to expressing the great glories of the Islamic Rupublic, the government should inform people of some shortcomings, and ask them to increase national participation by unity, solidarity and active participation of all concerned and loyal to the revolution and the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani emphasized.

He went on to say that only with the active participation of all classes of people that all internal and external conspiracies will be foiled and the way to progress be paved.
