TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Police Chief Brigadier General Esmail Ahmadi Moqaddamsaid all the assailants involved in a terrorist attack near the countrys border city of Saravan have been identified, adding that the investigation into the case are still ongoing.This comes after a group of armed men carried out an ambush attack on October 25 on a border post in Gazbostan, near Irans southeastern city of Saravan, on the border with Pakistan, which has almost no control over its side of the shared frontier with Iran, killing 14 border guards and injuring six others.
Speaking on the sidelines of a meeting to study the security conditions in Irans southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan, Brigadier General Ahmadi Moqaddam told reporters in the provincial capital city of Zahedan today that his forces are seriously pursuing the terrorist attack in Saravan.
As regards the assassination of a local judicial official in the countrys southeastern city of Zabol, the police chief added that the investigation into that case is also in progress.
On Wednesday, November 6, unknown assailants killed Mousa Nouri, prosecutor of Zabol, by spraying bullets on his car in the street.
Nouri and his driver were shot dead when they were driving to the citys court at 8 am local time.
In relevant remarks on November 10, Ahmadi Moqaddam had announced that a number of suspects are now in police custody in connection with the assassination of the local judicial official, adding that the case is still under investigation.
Our intelligence work is still in progress, and we will present more precise details with the studies, the police chief had explained.
On Monday, Iranian Intelligence Minister Seyed Mahmoud Alawi his ministry was investigating the recent assassination of Zabol prosecutor, and added that the results of the investigation would be announced later.
Zabol is a small town in Irans southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan, close to the border with Afghanistan.
