Official: Iran planning to boost interaction with world nations

TEHRAN (FNA)- Irans Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Mohammad Reza Majidi underlined that Iran plans to widen its presence on the international scene by broadening its interactions with the world countries.


The senior Iranian official stressed the need for preventing the expansion of extremism by conducting dialogues among different cultures, and expressed the hope that Tehran would increase its constructive interaction with the world's nations and add to its international presence.

In mid-May, Majidi underlined the necessity for talks among different cultures as the most important means for sustainable development.

Majidi made the remarks addressing a scientific meeting titled 'Inter-Cultural Talks in the 21st Century and the Role of UNESCO' in Paris at the time.

The Iranian envoy, who also holds the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM)'s presidency at UNESCO, underlined that promoting cultural dialogue is one of the most important responsibilities of UNESCO.

He referred to Iran's role in dialogue among cultures and civilizations at global levels, and underscored the necessity for morally-oriented talks and attention to cultural diversity as a prerequisite for success in any dialogue.
