TEHRAN, Sep. 23 (MNA) The Egyptian military-backed interim government continues arresting political and religious leaders of the country's Muslim Brotherhood, a report says.According to a Monday report by the Turkish Anadolu Agency, the Egyptian police detained one of the religious leaders of the Brotherhood, Salahaddin Sultan, on Sunday.
The report added that former minister of local development, Mohamed Ali Bishr, who is one of the prominent figures of the Muslim Brotherhood, was also arrested on the same day.
Bishr is said to have organized and headed numerous demonstrations in support of Egypts former president, Mohamed Morsi, who was ousted by the army in early July.
The development comes as on Monday a court in Cairo banned the Brotherhood from operating and ordered its assets seized.
Egypt's official MENA news agency reported that the court also banned any institution branching out from or belonging to the Brotherhood.
More than 2,000 members of the Brotherhood have been arrested since the military ouster of Morsi, among them the movements supreme leader, Mohamed Badie.
On September 17, Egyptian authorities ordered freezing of the assets belonging to Badie and two of his deputies as well as three other senior Brotherhood leaders.
