Foreign intervention no solution to Syria: Iran Envoy

The Iranian Ambassador to Damascus has rejected foreign intervention in Syria, reaffirming Tehrans support for negotiations as the best solution to the ongoing crisis in the Arab country.
Iran respects the viewpoints and demands of Syrians and rejects foreign intervention, Mohammad Reza Raouf-Sheibani said Saturday, adding military approaches will fail to settle the problems and only complicate the crisis.

He said that since the beginning of the crisis in the Arab country Iran has stressed the necessity of inclusive negotiations between all sides in the conflict.
We believe that Syrians are capable of solving their problems and the best solution is for the sides in the conflict to sit at the negotiating table and to reach a consensus on ... determining the future fate of the country, he said.
Raouf-Sheibani also called for an end to the flow of foreign armed groups and weapons into Syria.

The Iranian envoy said that as Syria is one of the members of the anti-Israel resistance front it is therefore hated by the US, the West and the Israeli regime and this is why it is experiencing the present crisis.

He said that the ongoing Syria unrest was a plot by foreigners under the pretext of supporting public demands.

Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since March 2011.

A very large number of the militants operating inside Syria are reportedly foreign nationals. According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies, especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.
