Constructive talks can resolve regional crises: Iran MP

[caption id="attachment_23829" align="alignright" width="210"] Chairman of Iran's Majlis Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy Alaeddin Boroujerdi[/caption]
A senior Iranian parliamentarian has highlighted the importance of constructive negotiations and non-interference of foreign powers as key solutions to the ongoing regional crises.
Constructive talks among all sides, non-interference of foreigners and entrusting the fate of regional nations to themselves are the only solutions to the crises in these countries [Egypt, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan], Alaeddin Boroujerdi said in a Sunday meeting with Australian Ambassador to Tehran Paul Foley.

The lawmaker, who heads the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, added that Majlis supports the new Iranian administrations policy on the expansion of ties and constructive interaction with countries based on mutual respect and interests.

He stated that spread of terrorism, increase in poppy cultivation, change in Washingtons policy toward negotiation with the Taliban, and the continuation of insecurity in Afghanistan and Pakistan clearly attest to the failure of the US policies in the region.

Boroujerdi emphasized the significance of fighting terrorism as a serious threat against international security and peace.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is fully prepared and has the necessary capacity to cooperate with the international community to solve this problem, the Iranian legislator added.
The Australian envoy, for his part, said his country welcomed Irans policy on interaction with different countries and added that Tehran plays a very sensitive role in resolving regional crises.

Foley called on countries involved in regional issues to help promote sustainable peace and development in the region through security and economic cooperation.
