According to The Iran Project, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in his meeting with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday, underscored the need to safeguard Syria's territorial integrity amid recent developments in the Arab country.

"Any changes in Syria must respect its territorial integrity, and even the slightest violation of its sovereignty is completely unacceptable," Pezeshkian said, according to ISNA.

Pezeshkian also called for an immediate halt to Israeli aggression in the region. He urged Islamic nations to fulfill their responsibility in countering Israeli actions, stating, "If there is unity and solidarity among the Islamic community, the regime will not dare to commit such atrocities."

Referring to the positive relations between Iran and Turkey, Pezeshkian noted the outcomes of the recent Iran-Turkey Joint Economic Cooperation Commission. He expressed Iran’s readiness to host the next meeting of the High Council for Strategic Relations between the two countries.

"We are waiting for the implementation of agreements and the realization of trade targets set between Iran and Turkey," Pezeshkian added.

Highlighting the economic potential of Islamic nations, he called for the establishment of shared financial mechanisms, such as a common currency and barter trade systems.

"Iran and Turkey can play a significant role in fostering broad economic cooperation among Islamic countries," Pezeshkian said.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to Syria’s stability and sovereignty.
"Preserving Syria's territorial integrity is crucial for Turkey, and we hope joint efforts will soon restore peace and security in Syria," Erdogan said.

Erdogan also emphasized the need for a ceasefire in Lebanon, an end to Israeli attacks in Syria, and a ceasefire in Gaza.

He described enhancing Iran-Turkey cooperation as vital for regional stability and expressed hope that the High Council for Strategic Cooperation meeting would be held next year.

Both leaders stressed the importance of resolving bilateral issues and accelerating the implementation of trade agreements between Iran and Turkey.

Following his participation in the D-8 summit and discussions on the situations in Gaza and Lebanon, President Pezeshkian returned to Tehran late Thursday.

During the brief and intensive visit, Pezeshkian met with the presidents of Egypt and Turkey, Pakistan's prime minister, and the Secretary-General of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation.
