The Iran Project - Saudi Arabia's new ambassador to Iran, Abdullah bin Saud al-Anzi, has begun his mission in Tehran to strengthen relations between the two countries, after a seven-year estrangement.

According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Saudi envoy upon his arrival in Iran said the directives of the Saudi leadership emphasize the need to "enhance relations and intensify communication and meetings between the kingdom and Iran ... toward the broader horizon.�

Saudi Arabia and Iran agreed to restore diplomatic ties back in March following a Chinese-brokered deal after a seven-year hiatus.

Al-Anzi went on to note that Saudi Arabia�s Vision 2030 �represents a road map that reflects all aspects of cooperation that can be built upon to enhance cooperation between the two countries.�

He emphasized the importance of cooperation, good neighborliness, dialogue, and mutual respect.

Iran's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alireza Enayati, also arrived in Riyadh on the same day. The reopening of embassies and consulates in both countries signifies progress in bilateral ties.

The agreement signed in March highlights the respect for national sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs, along with a commitment to security cooperation and economic, cultural, and social exchanges.

Last month, Iranian Foreign Minister Amirabdollahian made his first visit to Saudi Arabia after the rapprochement, saying bilateral ties are �progressing in the right direction.�
