Irans naval sphere of influence now stretches across all intel waters: IRGC

Any spot in international waters and high seas is now within the naval sphere of influence of the Islamic Republic, thechief commander of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said.

Major General Hossein Salami made the remarks on Saturday as the IRGC Navy took received sophisticated homegrown missile systems, unmanned aerial vehicles and armament featuringstate-of-the-art technologies suitable for electronic warfare.

Salami further stressed that both the IRGC Navy and the Iranian Navy have established their presence beyond coastal waters, extending their sphere of influence to encompass every corner of the oceans.

The general then expounded on how the positioning of enemy forces in close proximity to Iran has served as an opportunity that helped the Iranian armed forces broaden their deterrent capabilities, and devise a comprehensive plan to enhance their military prowess and counter adversaries.

Irans military might and sphere of influence are now recognized worldwide, Salami said, emphasizing that Iran has turned into a main actor in the geometry of power in West Asia and around the world.

The IRGC chief commander also hailed Iranian naval forces for protecting the countrys national interests and maritime borders.

Late last month, Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said his forces were committed to achievingan effective and successful presence in the international arena and raisingthe Iranian flag.

Admiral Irani made the remarks on July 29, as he arrived at the Pulkovo International Airport in St. Petersburg to attend the parade celebrating the Day of the Russian Navy.

The Navy chief highlighted naval diplomacy as a key mission pursued by navies worldwide, including the Iranian Navy.
