Iran, Denmark discuss plans to expand ties
The foreign ministers of Iran and Denmark have explored avenues to boost relations between Tehran and Copenhagen.

In a telephone conversation on Sunday night, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and his Danish counterpart Lars Lokke Rasmussen discussed the latest state of bilateral relations and ways to develop ties.

The Iranian foreign minister considered the historical relations between the two countries as a great asset for both sides and emphasized the necessity to address the existing challenges and develop bilateral relations.

The foreign minister of Denmark, for his part, voiced his strong opposition to insults to Holy Quran and condemned such actions.

The two diplomats further agreed to establish a mechanism to strengthen consular consultations between Iran and Denmark.

Back in April, Irans Foreign Ministry spokesman strongly condemned the instance of desecration of Muslims holy book in Denmark, describing it as another flip side of Takfiri extremism and violence.

Nasser Kanani made the remark after a Danish group burned a copy of the Holy Quran during a demonstration in the capital Copenhagen. According to media reports, the group also burned Turkeys flag during the same demonstration.

This act of desecration, which was done by an extremist group during the holy month of Ramadan is an insult to the divine religion of Islam and a blatant affront to all Muslims of the world, he remarked.
