3.9-magnitude earthquake shakes Western Tehran

An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.9 at a depth of 8 kilometers shook Malard in Tehran province, with no reports of casualties and material damage yet.

The epicenter of the tremor, which occurred at 10:28 a.m. on Friday local time, was around Western Tehran.

The seismic center has occurred at a depth of 8 km, Iranian media reported, and that's why the people of Tehran and Alborz provinces felt this earthquake.

The earthquake was felt 5 kilometers from Malard city, 7 kilometers from Safa Dasht, and 8 kilometers from Meshkin Dasht in Alborz province.

Director General of Crisis Management of Tehran Governorate said, As soon as the earthquake happened, the crisis management headquarters in the west of Tehran province was on full alert, and assessment teams were dispatched to the earthquake-affected areas."

Stating that the earthquake this morning in Malard did not cause damage, Hamed Yazdi Mehr announced that the fault that caused the earthquake in Mallard is not dangerous and is inactive.
