Iraq's president to visit Iran

Iraq's President Abdul Latif Rashid is going to pay a visit to Iran soon, the Arab countrys foreign minister announced.

In a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart on Sunday, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein hailed the restoration of diplomatic relations between Tehran and Riyadh.

He also noted that Iraq's President Abdul Latif Rashid will soon pay a visit to Iran.

The two senior diplomats also discussed the bilateral ties between Tehran and Baghdad as well as the regional and international issues.

Amirabdollahian and Hussein talked about the issues relating to the European Union, the regional developments, the importance of maintaining security and stability in the region, and the fight against terrorism.

At the end of the phone call, Amirabdollahian and Hussein underlined the need for Iran and Iraq to expand their strategic ties and to steadily coordinate and hold consultations with each other on various issues.

Meanwhile, Iran and Iraq have agreed to resume the construction of the Shalamcheh-Basra railroad and relaunch the Tehran-Karbala rail project.
