Iran's FM spox rejects US, UK accusations of cyberattacks

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani on Thursday rejected and strongly condemned the baseless accusations of the US National Security Council and the UK foreign office against the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding an alleged cyberattack on Albania.

Kanaani pointed out that the US and the UK, which had previously remained silent in numerous cyberattacks against the Islamic Republic of Irans infrastructures and even against its nuclear facilities and had even directly or indirectly supported those measures, lack any legitimacy to level such accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned against any political adventurism against Iran with such ridiculous excuses and expressed Irans complete readiness to deal with any possible conspiracy decisively and immediately that would make them feel regretful.

He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran, as a country that has been repeatedly attacked by cyberattacks, is an important part of responsible international efforts to deal with the threat of cyberattacks.

Earlier on Wednesday, Albania severed diplomatic ties with Iran and told Iranian diplomats and embassy staff to leave the country over a July cyberattack it blamed on the Islamic Republic.

Irans Foreign Ministry strongly condemned Albania for cutting diplomatic ties with the Islamic Republic and called the anti-Iran allegations leveled by the southeastern European country unfounded.
