Health Minister: Iran ready for human trial of COVID-19 vaccine

FNA - Iranian Health Minister Saeed Namaki said that the countrys experts are through with animal tests of coronavirus vaccine and are ready to enter the human trial phase.

Although, we have volunteered to purchase the first confirmed COVID-19 virus vaccine in the world, fortunately, different complexes and several knowledge-based companies have been activated in the country in this field and we have passed the vaccine tests on animals and are ready to enter the human trial phase, Namaki said in phone talks with his Iraqi counterpart Hassan Mohammed al-Tamimi on Friday.

He promised al-Tamimi to supply Iraq with any new achievement in Iran to control coronavirus epidemic, specially vaccine.
Al-Tamimi, for his part, expressed pleasure with the decreasing number of people infected with coronavirus and deaths in Iran, and said that his country has taken lessons from its neighbor in management of the disease and its successes.


In a relevant development in July, Iran and Iraq agreed to form a committee to exchange information and cooperation in fight against the coronavirus epidemic.


Al-Tamimi said at the time that his country had accorded with Iran on formation of joint medical committees and groups with the aim of exchanging medical information to combat Covid-19.


He said that in his meeting with Namaki in Tehran, they have conferred on the exchange of information on common treatment protocols in Iran for treating COVID-19.


According to the Iraqi minister, these joint groups will hold periodic joint meetings through videoconferencing.


Al-Tamimi was accompanying Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi in his visit to the Iranian capital.
