Press TV - Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has prayed for the�speedy recovery of Iraq's prominent Shia cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, who underwent surgery for a fractured bone following an accident in his home on Thursday.

In a message to Ayatollah Sistani on Friday, the Leader said news regarding his condition caused worries.

Ayatollah Khamenei prayed that God grant recovery to the top Shia cleric.

Also on Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said he was content about the successful result of the top cleric's surgery and asked God for his good health.

In a tweet in Arabic, Zarif said Ayatollah Sistani's successful surgery was pleasing news for Iran and Iraq.

Meanwhile, Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad Iraj Masjedi late on Thursday said the Islamic Republic is ready to help the Iraqi medical team if necessary.
