Tasnim � Iranian President Hassan Rouhani offered his condolences to Tunisia over the death of the country�s President Beji Caid Essebs.


In a Friday letter to Tunisia�s parliament speaker Mohamed al-Nasser who has been sworn in as the interim president, Rouhani said he was saddened by the death of the North African country�s president.

Offering condolences to the Republic of Tunisia�s government and nation, the Iranian president wished glory for the African nation.

Known as one of the world�s oldest leaders, Essebsi died at the age of 92 at the Tunis military hospital on Thursday morning.

Tunisia�s first democratically elected leader was hospitalized with a severe illness in late June, but returned to intensive care on Thursday.
