Gov't obliged to pursue US anti-IRGC move in int'l fora

IRNA - Iranian lawmakers obliged the government to take legal action against the United States' illegal decision on blacklisting the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) in the international bodies.

Representatives in an open session of parliament on Tuesday and in the further consideration of the double-urgency bill on reciprocal measure against announcing IRGC as a terrorist organization by the United States, approved Article 9 of the bill by 162 votes in favor, 6 against and 2 abstentions while 204 lawmakers were attending the parliament session.

Representatives in this article obliged the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran to protest and take legal action against the US illegal decision to designate the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps as terrorist.

The Iranian lawmakers urged the government to use its full capacities to confront the US action which was violation of the sovereign immunity of the Islamic Republic of Iran's defense.

They said that the Iranian government should win support of other countries by consulting them and interacting with them.

The lawmakers approved Article 10 of the government's legal action bill against the US decision with 180 votes in favor, one against and three abstentions. Accordingly, the Planning and Budget Organization is required to provide the resources required to enforce this law in the annual budget of the related and allocate 100% per annum.

MPs also endorsed Article 11 with 170 votes in favor, 10 against and 5 abstentions from the 210 participant MPs.

Meanwhile, in another development, the Central Command of the United States in West Asia (CENTcom), the forces and organizations or institutions under its command have been approved by parliamentarians to be enlisted in the list of terrorist forces and any assistance to them is equal to helping the terrorists.

The MPs on Tuesday approved Article 1 of the reciprocal bill against designation of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps as a terrorist organization by the United States with 173 votes in favor, four against and 11 abstentions from a total of 215 present delegates.

At the same time, parliamentarians approved that the commanders of Centcom and the organization or institutions under its command and support for the terrorists would be prosecuted. The plan was approved by 168 votes in favor, six against and eight abstentions from a total of 210 present in the session.
