KRG to issue free visa for Iranians

IRNA Iranian Consulate General in Sulaymaniyah announced that the Iraqi Kurdistan Region has underlined its commitment to Baghdad decision to lift charges on visa for Iranian nationals.


Iran consul in Sulaymaniyah Saadollah Masoudian announced that Iranian consulate general will issue free visa for Iraqi citizens from April 1.

Earlier on March 27, the Iraqi Council of Ministers passed a bill to lift visa charges for Iranians.

The Iraqi Prime Ministers office in a statement earlier announced that the Council of Ministers chaired by Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi has ratified a bill to lift visa charges for Iranian if Iran also reciprocates.

During his recent visit to Iraq, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a joint statement declared the final agreement to start lifting visa charges for Iraqi nationals from April 1.

Meanwhile, Iran Envoy to Baghdad Iraj Masjedi told IRNA that the necessary measures will be taken on the due date for Iraqi nationals in Iran diplomatic missions.

Over seven million pilgrims and passengers are exchanged between Iran and Iraq annually.

Referring to charging Iranians 25,000 Iraqi dinar while entering KRG, Masoudian said that the Iraqi Kurdish officials will be committed to Federal government of Iraq in this regard.

Meanwhile, director general of Iraqi Kurdistan region public relations office with Iran Abdollah Salih told IRNA that KRG will comply with the Federal government of Iraqs decision.

Masoudian reiterated that lifting visa charges will develop economic relations between Iran and Iraq.

Iranian diplomatic mission in Iraq in a statement announced that all Iranian consulate general sin Iraq will issue free visa for Iraqi citizens from April 1.
