TASS - The date of a new meeting between the Russian, Iranian and Turkish presidents to discuss the situation in Syria has not been settled yet, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in response to a TASS question on when this summit will be held.

"The organization of this summit has been long under discussion," he said. "The date has not been not settled yet."

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said earlier on Thursday on NTV channel live that a summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is planned to be held in the coming days. "A bilateral meeting [between the Turkish and Russian presidents] is planned to be held, along with trilateral negotiations which were launched in Sochi in the past," he noted. "We are working to hold this trilateral summit in the coming weeks."

The third summit on the Syrian settlement involving the Russian, Turkish and Iranian presidents was held on September 7 in Tehran. The first meeting of this kind in trilateral format was held on November 22, 2017, in Sochi. The second negotiations were held on April 4 in Ankara, and which the sides made a joint statement in which they declared the intention to continue this work at the top level.

As for the bilateral meeting between the Russian and Turkish leaders, Peskov earlier stated that Erdogan�s visit to Russia "is being prepared for the near future," but "no specific date has been settled yet.".
