IRNA - An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale jolted Shahdad in southeastern Iranian province of Kerman early Tuesday.


According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 05:11 hours local time (01:41 GMT) at the depth of 10 km underground.

The epicenter of the quake was located at 57.46 degrees longitude and 30.47 degrees latitude.

Speaking with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), the Managing Director of Kerman Crisis Management Office Majid Saeedi said the earthquake had no casualties or damage to properties.

Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes.
