MNA � An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 shook Kermanshah province in western�Iran�late Sunday, injuring 716 people, according to the latest reports.







The powerful earthquake hit at 1:19 UTC (20:07 local time) at a depth of 9 km, which is considered shallow, according to Iranian Seismological Center, 20 km from Sarpol-e Zahab, Kermanshah province in western Iran. The quake had also affected Iraq along the shared borders with Kermanshah.

According to the head of Relief and Rescue Organization, the earthquake had struck the areas that have recently recovered from the�devastating quake�last year � a �7.3-magnitude earthquake in Sarpol-e Zahab, which was said to be the deadliest of 2017 with over 400 people dead, and 7,100 injured.

The latest reports on Sunday's earthquake in Kermanshah put the number of the injured at 716, with no casualty reported so far.

According to deputy head of treatment department at Kermanshah University of Medical Sciences, no severe trauma has been reported, and the majority of the injured had sustained injury while running around in panic.

Rescue teams are still hard at work at the quake-hit areas.
