IRNA � If the spirits of Jihad and martyrdom spread among people, the inclinations towards the West, the East, heresy, and paganism will abate, said the Supreme Leader of the Islamic revolution.


'A martyr provides services to Islam during his life and continue the service with expanding the atmosphere of spirituality,' said Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei November 14 in a commemoration ceremony of the martyrs of Qazvin Province, according to the a report published on Sunday.

'Commemorating the martyrs will echo their awakening voice throughout the world and touch hearts; therefore, if the spirits of Jihad and martyrdom develop among people, the inclinations towards the West, the East, heresy, and paganism will go away.'

He said three decades have passed since the Holy Defense time (Iran-Iraq war 1980-1988,) but martyrs have not been forgotten and are still role models.
