Iran urges Pakistan to take 'positive action' on border abductions

IRNA Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman has called on the Pakistani government to take necessary action on releasing Iranian border guards recently kidnapped re at a Sistan-Baluchestan border area with Pakistan in southeast of Iran.


'We expect government of Pakistan to adopt positive actions regarding the accident which was the first one happened during the term of Imran Khan, Pakistan new Prime Minister, Bahram Qasemi said on Tuesday, referring to abduction of 14 Iranian border guards at Mirjaveh border point on October 15.

He expressed hope for the consultations and cooperation between Iran and Pakistan to have satisfying results since all sectors in Iran are trying to bring back kidnapped soldiers.

After the unpleasant incident of kidnapping Iranian soldiers in Iran-Pakistan common border point, the diplomatic and political actions started in Tehran and Pakistan, Qasemi added.

Making phone calls between Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Pakistani counterpart Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Hussain Qureshi, inviting Pakistan's envoy to Tehran Riffat Masood to foreign ministry and the political meetings held by Iranian ambassador to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost in Islamabad were among measures which have so far been taken, Qasemi said.
