IRNA -- Turkish Foreign minister has said on Tuesday that the claim of responsibility for killing Saudi prominent journalist was too late, yet very important.

Speaking at Anadolu Agency Editor's Desk, Mevlut Cavusoglu said Turkey's actions and global pressures led to Saudi Arabia's admission that the critic journalist was killed inside Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

He stressed, 'Turkey is ready to cooperate if an international investigation is launched into the killing of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi.'

Cavusoglu said following the telephone conversation between Turkish president and the king of Saudi Arabia, the two countries' cooperation in shedding light on the issue has been prompted.

'A joint Turkish-Saudi team completed an investigation into the case on Thursday after searching the residence of the Saudi consul general as well as the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul', he said, adding independent investigations are underway at the Turkish prosecutor's office.

After 18 days of silence and rejecting claims that Khashoggi was killed, the Saudi government finally bowed down to international pressure on October 20th and claimed the prominent journalist was killed in a fist-fight inside Istanbul consulate.

Since the statement released by the Saudi regime provided no information on the whereabouts of his body, some Turkish media called for a clear answer from Saudi officials to 'Where is the body?'

All evidence suggests people close to Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman, who were sent to Istanbul, have committed the premeditated murder.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said two days ago he would announce the latest findings while addressing lawmakers at Justice and Development Party (AKP) on Tuesday (Oct 23).
