Rise in Iran gasoline production foils US' sanctions

IRNA The 38m liter increase in Iran's gasoline production made the US not able to talk about sanctions, Iranian Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zangeneh said.

Zangeneh made the remarks on the sidelines of the 4th Iranian Petroleum and Energy Club Congress and Exhibition in Tehran on Tuesday.

'We have registered new records in producing gasoline,' he said.

Gasoline production increased from 52m liter per day to over 90m liter, he added.

Referring to fuel smuggling in Iran, he said liquid gas is being sold about $10 in Iran while its value is $500 in global markets.

Some 2.5 to three million tons of bitumen are annually exported and four million tons of free bitumen is allocated to the road development projects.
