Sanctions seeking decline of public trust: Judicial official

IRNA - Prosecutor general of Iran on Saturday said that decline of public trust in the administration is one of the main goals of enemies' sanctions.

Enemies are using sanctions and economic war as a tool to put pressure on people and disappoint them about the future, Mohammad Jafar Montazeri said in a local ceremony.

He urged the Iranian media to be vigilant about the enemies' plots and said that the enemies are exaggerating about corruption in Iran to reduce public trust in officials.

The official cautioned about the effect of enemies' spying services on Iranian decision-makers and policy-making think tanks.

US President Donald Trump has increased pressure on Iran and announced on May 8 that Washington would pull out of Iran's nuclear deal and re-impose nuclear sanctions on the country.

This is while most world powers, including Russia, China, and the European Union, have repeatedly stressed that keeping the deal is in the interest of the world peace and security.
