Slovenia president hails expansion of ties with Iran

MNA President of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, in a meeting with Iranian ambassador to Ljubljana, has voiced satisfaction with the development and progress made in politico-economic relations with Iran in recent years.

During the meeting with Iranian envoy Morteza Darzi Ramandi on Wednesday, the Slovenian president voiced hope that the Iran nuclear deal would be preserved in the current complicated situation in the world.

The Iranian ambassador, for his part, discussed the latest developments and progress made in the relations of the two countries, noting 2016 as the turning point in Tehran-Ljubljana ties, following the visit of Slovenian president to Tehran, the signing of a number of memoranda of understanding and trade agreements, as well as the reopening of Slovenian embassy in the Islamic Republic.

He also pointed to a threefold increase in the volume of trade transactions between the two countries.

During the meeting, the two sides also conferred on regional issues and the Iran nuclear deal, particularly with regard to the US withdrawal from the agreement.
