MNA � Iran�s Cyber Police Chief General Kamal Hadianfar said Sun. that there have been 296 serious attacks on the country�s vital infrastructures in 2017, 50% of which were launched from US and China.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference on Sunday, Cyber Police Chief General Kamal Hadianfar said internet crimes have increased by 900 percent since 2011.

According to him, every day over 6 to 7 million cyberattacks are carried out in the country, a large percentage of which are deterred and do not affect systems, infrastructures or internet users.

Pointing to 7,525 identified attacks on Iran�s infrastructures in 2017, he said �256 attacks were serious, 50% of which were launched from the US and China, 30% from European countries such as the Netherlands and Germany, and the rest from Asian countries.�

The attacks targeted banks, financial and credit institutions, telecommunication infrastructures, electricity and gas distribution infrastructure, oil industries, ministries and organizations, he added.

�They were organized attacks aimed at disrupting the country�s monetary, financial and distribution systems and infrastructures,� he said.

He noted that 11 out of the 32 banks were targeted the most by cyberattacks due to having a higher number of clients.
