IRNA � President Hassan Rouhani participated in a memorial service held Sunday in Tehran to commemorate victims of Sanchi tanker inferno.


Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Ali Larijani, First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami, and a number of other Iranian officials also took part in the event.

30 Iranian and two Bangladeshi sailors, who were members of the Sanchi crew, were killed because of toxic gases and the huge fire which embraced the tanker after the ship collided with a Chinese freighter in the East China Sea on Jan 6.

All rescue efforts were in vain and the tanker sank on Jan 15.
