Envoy: Iran seeking stability in region through dialogue

IRNA Tehran is supporting dialogue in search for stability in the region, Iran's envoy to Russia said on Thursday.

Tehran is seeking dialogue and stability in the region, as the situation requires more bilateral and regional diplomatic consultations, Mehdi Sanaei said during a meeting with Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Michael Bogdanov in the Russian capital.

Sanaei and Bogdanov also exchanged views on the latest developments in the region, particularly in Syria and Yemen.

'Nobody will benefit from the crises and conflicts in the region,' Sanaei said, warning that 'if the issues are not solved through consultation among the countries in the region, the outsiders will covet the region.'

The Iranian ambassador to Moscow also said that the recent move by the US administration on recognizing Quds as the capital of the Zionist regime of Israel made the Muslim countries more united in the face of the US policies.

Trump on December 6 announced that he will move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Al Quds(Jerusalem). The decision prompted strong global condemnation.

The General Assembly of the United Nation in a resolution denounced any change on the holy city status.

The Palestinians say Quds is the capital of their future country.

In the meantime, Bogdanov, referring to the sensitive situation of the Middle East, emphasized the need for continuation of consultations between Iran and Russia.

'Yemen's crisis does not have any military solution, rather it should be resolved through political means and promoting Yemeni-Yemeni talks,' he said.
