Familiarization tours for foreign media can help publicize Iran attractions

Financial Tribune - Officials from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and the Revitalization and Utilization Fund for Historical Places (known by its Persian acronym Sabta) discussed the importance of introducing Irans historical sites to the world through the foreign media based in Iran.

In a joint meeting held early this week, Alireza Shiravi, a deputy culture minister, proposed the launch of familiarization (fam) tours for foreign journalists as another step for introducing Irans historical sites to the world.

Amin Sanaei Mehri, the head of public relations at Sabta, said information about Irans historical sites is available on the organizations website in Farsi, English and Arabic, which can help gain international and national recognition for the heritage sites, CHTN reported.

A large number of foreign tourists love to discover more about Irans historical monuments and providing timely and accurate information about these national treasures can provide an opportunity to attract more tourists to the country, he said.

Sanaei noted that the model of restoration of historical sites employed by Sabta, coupled with media coverage of the sites, has grabbed the attention of many nations.

Mohammad Jafar Safi, director for foreign media and press affairs at the Ministry of Culture, said, About 149 foreign media outlets currently have offices in Iran, which is an opportunity to give the world insight into the countrys historical locations.
