VP Jahangiri: US embassy relocation ‘weak move to restore morale’

MNA– Iran’s Vice-President Jahangiri said Wed. the US relocation of its Israel embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem al-Quds is a “weak measure to restore their allies’ morale.”

“The frustration caused by repeated defeats at their Arrogance front has moved them toward taking such weak measures to restore the morale of their allies, all the while unwise to the fact that the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of the Zionist regime will follow an even more humiliating defeat,” Iranian First Vice-President Es’hagh Jahangiri said in a tweet Wednesday night.

Jahangiri was reacting to  Washington’s recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds as Israel’s capital during an announcement by US President Trump on Wednesday that his administration would also begin to move the American embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem al-Quds.

Trump’s move which overturns decades of US foreign policy is feared to trigger a fresh wave of unrest in the Middle East.

In a Wednesday night statement, the Iranian Foreign Ministry called the move a “blatant violation of international resolutions,” and warned against a new Palestinian Intifada (uprising).
