Turkey promises immediate probe into shooting at Iranian border

IRNA Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has called his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif to say that the shootout incident in the two countries' border is being investigated and the results will be declared to the Iranian officials soon.


In the incident in northern border area of Maku on Monday, one Iranian border guard was killed and several others were wounded,

Cavusoglu also blamed PKK terrorists for the attack, expressing condolences over death of the Iranian border guard, Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said on Monday evening.

Meanwhile, Turkish interior minister ensured Irans ambassador to the country that the issue is being followed up seriously.

Qasemi also said that Foreign Ministry is engaged in looking into he issue to find out the elements behind the incident.

He also noted that four were wounded in the incident who were taken to the hospital in Kars for treatment.
