CBI governor dismisses reports on Iranians bank accounts closure

IRNA Governor of Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Valiollah Seif on Sunday rejected the report that bank accounts of some Iranians have been closed under Countering Americas Enemies Through Sanctions Act (CATSA).

US passed the act against Iran, Russia and North Korea to counter what it calls dangerous and hostile measures of the countries against the US and its allies.

Seif made the remarks after a meeting with vice speaker of Chinese Parliament in response to a question whether bank accounts of non-resident Iranians in UAE, Turkey and Britain have been closed under CATSA.

Vice Chairman of Chamber of Investment Commission of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture Hossein Salimi had earlier announced closure of bank accounts of the non-resident Iranians in UAE, Turkey and Britain under CATSA.

Seif further noted that he voiced Irans readiness for a monetary treaty and a swap agreement similar to that Iran signed with Turkey recently during the meeting with the Chinese official.

Describing Chinas role for Iran as strategic, he said that facilitating banking transactions will help rapid fulfillment of the two countries objectives.

Seif further noted that todays meeting dwelt on promoting Iran-China banking cooperation, hoping that obstacles in the way of banking relations would be removed soon.
