MNA � In a statement released on Wednesday, Iran�s High Council for Human Rights has condemned the violent murder of an Iranian-American young man who was unarmed by US police.


Iran�s High Council for Human Rights (HCHR) has issued a statement in reaction to killing of Bijan Ghaisar, an American-born citizen of Iranian heritage, by the US Police.

High Council for Human Rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran, upon receiving the news of murder of Bijan Gheisar on Monday night November 27 in a hospital, following US Police shooting in his head in Virginia, condemned the action by the American police who has repeatedly killed unarmed people. HCHR also required the US government to respond to the murder and explain it to the world's public opinion.

Of course, the HCHR will, in an official letter, urge Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Commissioner for Human Rights to follow up on the occurrence of such blatant violation of human rights and provide necessary reports, since, in accordance with the principles of international law and international documents, in particular paragraph 1 Article 6 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which states: "The right to life is an inherent right of a person. This right must be protected by law. No one can be arbitrarily deprived of life." The right to life is to be protected.

The HCHR will also call on the Swiss Embassy in Tehran to reflect our concerns and protest with the US government about the significant issue of massacre of the young Iranian citizen, Bijan Gheisar by the US Police and get the result and submit it to the Council.

An Iranian-American young man of 25 years old was shot 3 times in head by two officers of Park Police in Fairfax County, Virginia, US, while FBI attestation affirms that the young man was unarmed.

Based on the local accounts, Bijan C. Ghaisar, of McLean, Virginia, was an accountant for his father�s firm, and a 2010 graduate of Langley High School and Virginia Commonwealth University.

According to the statement released by the victim�s family, Ghaisar was shot three times in the head and suffered irreversible brain damage. A witness told the media last week that she saw two officers approach the Jeep and open fire at close range near Fort Hunt Road and Alexandria Avenue. Authorities have not said why the officers fired.

�The reason for the murder of our son has yet to be determined, though no reasoning could possibly justify the actions of the one or more Park Police officers involved in this unthinkable act,� the statement said.

Ghaisar was shot after police said that he was involved in a hit-and-run crash and then led police on a short chase into Fairfax County on the George Washington Memorial Parkway on November 17.

The FBI is leading an independent investigation of the Park Police officers� actions and confirmed Ghaisar�s death.

This is not the first time an unarmed driver is shot dead for driving offences.
