IRNA - Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri officially welcomed his Russian counterpart Valery Gerasimov in Tehran on Wednesday.

Gerasimov heading a delegation arrived in Tehran on Wednesday.

Russian military officer is scheduled to hold meetings with General Baqeri.

During the meeting, both sides will discuss different issues such as, modern diplomacy, Iran-Russia defense diplomacy and the way to fight terrorism.

Iran and Russia are also supposed to review Syrian issue and giving aids to the Resistance Front.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is also coming to Tehran today to take part in a trilateral meeting with presidents of Iran and Azerbaijan as well as holding high-level talks with senior officials of Iran.
