Iranian official slams Trump's anti-Iran remarks in UNGA

IRNA - Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council on Saturday slammed US President Donald Trump's anti-Iranian allegations.

'These remarks result from his weakness, nervousness and disappointment,' Ayatollah Hashemi Shahroudi said in the Expediency Council session.

'The US president has showed till now that has a paradoxical and abnormal character,' the senior cleric noted.

He said that 'Islamic Republic has been victim of terrorism from the beginning of (1979) revolution', adding in the meantime that it is now at the frontline of fighting Daesh Takfiri terrorism.

US president used a hawkish rhetoric towards Iranian nation in his recent speech at the 72nd UN General Assembly. He claimed that the Islamic Republic of Iran is 'supporting terrorism' and called nuclear deal reached between Iran and the world powers in 2015 an embarrassment.

According to the nuclear deal known also as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iran will curb its peaceful nuclear program in exchange for removal of its sanctions.
