Irans Rouhani's last day program in New York

September 21, The Iran Project On the four and last day, in continuation of his meetings since his arrival in New York on Sunday (Sep 17) to attend and address the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly, President Hassan Rouhani delivered a speech at UNGA, attended a press conference and conferred with British Prime Minister Theresa May.

While addressing the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly, President Rouhani said Iran never tolerates threats from anyone and that the new US administration only destroys its own credibility, if it violates its international commitments.

"I declare before you that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not be the first country to violate the agreement; but it will respond decisively and resolutely to its violation by any party," he said.

Talking to reporters on Wednesday evening before leaving New York for Tehran, President Rouhani said US President Donald Trump has insulted the Iranian people and should offer his apologies to the nation.

"We are expecting the US President to apologize for his insults,' President Rouhani reiterated.

Trump made his maiden speech before the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday (Sep 19), addressing issues such as the Iran nuclear agreement.

Rouhani also hailed the atmosphere created following the implementation of JCPOA, saying that Iran is seeking to advance its win-win policies and boost ties with friendly states in such a situation.
In a meeting with Rouhani, May said London strongly supports the July 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and the major world powers.

I explicitly announced at the United Nations that the JCPOA is a very important agreement, and we are determined to continue it,' May said.

President Rouhani said, in the meantime, that the JCPOA is the outcome of considerable efforts by seven countries and all parties should try to preserve the deal by fully fulfilling their commitments.
