Iran stresses extension of consultations with France

IRNA Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman on Monday underlined continuation of consultations between Iran and France on issues of mutual interest.

The French president advisor is in Tehran within the framework of economic and political consultations between Iran and France, Bahram Qasemi told reporters.

Elaborating on the Russian president special envoy visit to Tehran, he said that the two countries are in contact to coordinate the talks on Syria, expected to be held mid-September in the Kazakh capital, Astana.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Qasemi said that two Saudi delegations are likely to fly to Iran after the Hajj rituals.

Tehran has issued visas for the members of the Saudi delegation, he added, noting, 'The Saudis are to only visit the diplomatic buildings here.'

About the travel of the Saudi delegation, Qasemi said they want to visit the buildings in Tehran, and Iran is also to visit its buildings in Riyadh.

The members of the Iranian delegation have received their visas through Oman two weeks ago, said the diplomat adding 'we granted visa to the Saudi side two months ago'.

Iran has also granted permission to the Saudi delegation for flying to Tehran, concluded the official.

When the Saudi rulers did execute Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, a Shia Muslim cleric, in January 2016, the mob attack on the Saudi Embassy in Tehran took place while it was condemned by the Iranian officials. After the event, Riyadh did severe relations with Tehran.
